Yn ddiweddar dois ar draws blog Cymraeg o'r enw Dyddlyfr y Bychan Main gan Gymro (dwi'n tybio) sy'n byw ym Marcelona. Dwi wedi bod i Barcelona dwywaith ac wedi mwynhau'r ddau ymweliad yn fawr, a dio ddim syndod i mi bod nifer fawr o fobl o ogledd Ewrop yn ymfudo yno i fyw, gan eich bo yn cael y gorau o'r ddau fyd sef tywydd poeth (nid mod i ddim balchach o dywydd poeth fy hun) ac hefyd bywyd dinesig soffistigedig.
Fel Cymro Cymraeg, dwi'n ymwybodol iawn o ymdeimlad cenedlaethol y Catalaniaid ac yn edmygu y modd mae'r iaith Gatalaneg yn goroesi ac o bosib yn ffynnu - er gwaethaf ymdrechion y wladwriaeth Sbaeneg i'w tanseilio. Ymddengys mai nid y Castiliaid yw'r unig rai sydd â dim parch at iaith a diwylliant cenedl Catalonia. Yn ei bost diwethaf, mae'r Bychan Main yn sôn am Ymgyrch e-bost yn erbyn cylchgrawn Saesneg.
Ebost neithiwr gan Gymdeithas yr Iaith Gatalaneg (Plataforma per la Llengua) yn gofyn i bobl brotestio yn erbyn erthygl gwbl hiliol yn erbyn y Catalaniaid mewn cylchgrawn a sefydlwyd gan Saeson yma yn Barcelona, sef Barcelona Connect. Dyma fi’n ysgrifennu at fforwm Catalaneg i ofyn i bobl hala neges at y cylchgrawn i gwyno.
Mae'r Prydeinwyr sydd yn dod i fyw yma (Saeson, ac ysywaeth y rhan fwyaf o’r Cymry a’r Sgotiaid hefyd) yn hollol ddirmygus eu hagwedd tuag at y Catalaniaid. Rhaid dweud hefyd fod y ‘bobl ddwad’ o'r Unol Daleithiau, Canada, yr Almaen, yr Iseldiroedd, a'r gwledydd Llychlynaidd yr un mor elyniaethus tuag at y Catalaniaid. A'r Gwyddelod yw'r gwaethaf am ryw reswm.

The picture is taken from Dyddlyfr y Bychan Main, a blog I've just found by someone who I assume is from Wales originally, but now lives in Bacelona (it's the first link in this post).
In one of his posts he says:
The Catalan flag, which was in a pile of rubbish on the pavement this evening in the Baix Guinardó area of Barcelona, on the junction of l'Alcalde de Mósteles [and] Taxdirt [streets/roads]
I can't undaerstand any Scottish Gaelic, it's from a different branch of Celtic languages to Welsh, but if you're interested, here's an aggregator of blogs in that language: TìrnamBlòg
'Gwenu' as in the title of my blog is 'Smiling', 'Gwên' with an accent is 'a smile'. 'Gwen' with no accent is a girls name - it's a feminine word for 'white', 'Gwyn' is a boys name in Welsh and is the masculine version of 'white'.
The subject of this post is that an English language paper for Barcelona, Barcelona Connect recently published an article which was quite derogatry [sp?] of the Catalan people. As it was written in English (for the lazy ex-pat community), it probably went unoticed by many Catalans, but the author of the above mentioned blog pointed this out on this Catalan m/board, and following an e-mail campaign an apology of sorts was issued.
Although I don't post on it as often, I also have an English language blog called Smiling under Buses

I can't understand Scottish Gaelic either!! xD but thank you very much for the aclaration about the word, that was very interesting (but not as much as learning that Mr and Ms white can now have little children in your country ;) that was funny but also really interesting to know about)

Mae hynny'n druan. Ond, wrth gwrs, edrychwch arnon ni yn yr UDA--cannoedd o famieithoedd yn diflannu (ac yn cyfri...) Dydy'r agwedd 'ma ddim yn anaml, yn anffodus.
I also wanted to ask something: last trip I went on was to Scotland, and I learnt that Glen meant kind of valley (or surronded by mountains or sth similar) and this time I wanted to know if that "Gwen" means really something or if it's me that I'm seeing it everywhere :P
